Neel ja Eikeri kaotasid Wimbledonis kahel päeval toimunud mängu | Tennis

Eesti tennisist Ingrid Neel ja tema norralannast paariline Ulrikke Eikeri pidid Wimbledoni paarismänguturniiri teises ringis tunnistama Leylah Fernandeze ja Ena Shibahara 2:6, 7:5, 6:2 paremust.

Reedel toimunud avaseti võitsid Neel ja Eikeri vaid 29 minutiga 6:2, sealjuures võideti oma esimeselt servilt 17 mängitud punktist 15. Seejärel hakkas aga vihma sadama ning naised pääsesid mängu jätkama enam kui 24 tundi hiljem.

Laupäeva õhtul jätkunud teises setis tegid Neel ja Eikeri neli lihtviga ja ei saanud kirja ühtegi äralööki, Kanada-Jaapani paar hoidis kolmel puhul oma servi nulliga. Otsustavas setis langes Neeli ja Eikeri esimese servi punktide protsent 45-le, Fernandez – Shibahara sooritasid kuus äralööki ja võitsid kogu mängu kahe tunniga.

Kolmandas ringis lähevad Fernandez ja Shibahara vastamisi neljandana asetatud tšehhitari Katerina Siniakova ja ameeriklanna Taylor Townsendiga. Siniakova on sealjuures kahekordne Wimbledoni paarismänguturniiri võitja.

Neel osaleb ameeriklase Robert Gallowayga ka segapaarismängus, nende esimeseks vastaseks on Townsend ja Jamie Murray.
